Smashburger Gluten free Menu: Is it really Gluten free?

Smashburger, designed as SmasHBURGER, is an American fast hamburger food chain founded in Denver, Colorado, in 2007. The restaurant chain, founded by Rick Schaden and Tom Ryan, serves in 37 states and nine countries. Is Smushburger gluten free menu really gluten free? We are going to present some info about that.

This chain is famous for serving ‘smashed’ burgers. The different cooking process on a flat top grill in high heat gives them their authenticity. The food chain serves classic burgers. Apart from that, you can enjoy fries, sides, salad, shakes, and many more.

However, eating out is a matter of concern for gluten intolerant people. And that is especially true when it comes to burgers. While in restaurants, it is impossible to ask or check the ingredients used.

Fortunately, Smashburger understands our inner desire to enjoy a burger. And therefore, there are some gluten free options available on the menu. Let’s know them.

Smashburger gluten free menu

Let’s start with the basics. The restaurant chain is famous for its authentic burgers. The point of concern here is that you can not make a burger without buns, right?

It might seem that there are no gluten free options left when it comes to buns. But what about a gluten free bun?

Traditional buns obviously can not be gluten free. Therefore, in 2014 Smashburger paired up with the well-known GF company Udi’s. As of now, Smashburger offers two alternatives as gluten free options. You can either order a GF bun or enjoy it with a lettuce wrap.

I recommend Lettuce wrap. Cross-contamination can be an issue since the grill and the cooking pan is the same as traditional buns.

On the other hand, if you pick lettuce wrap, there is no gluten presence. And besides, you can enjoy the benefits of fresh veggies.

Let’s now focus on the menu!

Spicy Jalapeno Baja is one of the most picked burgers from Smashburger. The recipe includes certified Angus beef patty, pepper jack cheese, onion, fresh tomato, lettuce, guacamole, chipotle mayo, and jalapeno. It is available as a double. If you wish, you can enjoy it with lettuce wrap as well.

BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger

This one is another signature burger of Smashburger. Here, the ingredients used are cheddar cheese, certified Angus beef, applewood smokes, bacon, and BBQ sauce. However, the one ingredient that might be the problem is haystack onion. So you might eliminate that specific ingredient and enjoy it!

Avocado Bacon Club Burger

The Avocado Bacon Club Burger is my personal favorite. It includes sliced avocado, certified Angus beef, tomato, lettuce, ranch mayo, applewood smoked bacon. Traditionally they provide multigrain buns in this burger. However, you might order a gluten free bun at your convenience.

Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger

You can also try this one. It has sautéed crimini mushrooms, Angus beef, Aged swiss cheese, truffle mayo. Toasted buns go the best with this. However, that is not an option for gluten intolerant people. Go for a GF option or a lettuce wrap.

Classic SMASHBurger

This is the staple smash product that every Smashburger outlet is ready to serve. This includes American cheese, red onion, tomato, lettuce, Certified Angus beef, Smash Sauce®, pickles, and a toasted bun. Go for a gluten free bun if you do not want to upset your stomach.
